As Tanzania’s first 18-hole championship course, Kilimanjaro Golf Club is designed to host both local and international golf events. The course features a distinctive layout where each hole seamlessly integrates with the natural terrain, creating a unique golfing experience.
The course is adorned with indigenous plants, native grasses, and trees, enhancing its natural beauty. The large greens, built to USGA specifications, offer subtle elevation changes, while strategically placed bunkers ensure a fair challenge.
The clubhouse, elevated above the fairways and greens, provides stunning views of Mt. Kilimanjaro. From the nearby driving range, players can enjoy the majestic mountain backdrop as they practice. The course begins with a hole adjacent to the clubhouse and features a green bordered by a lake surrounded by acacias. The second hole stretches alongside one of the course’s largest lakes, with cascading waterfalls adding to the scenery.
The course meanders to its highest point before looping back to the clubhouse with the ninth hole, a demanding par five that skirts a stream and offers a choice to lay up or aim for a green across the lake.
The back nine winds through lower estate areas with dramatic natural water features, including long lakes at the 11th, 12th, and 13th holes. The final hole presents a thrilling risk-versus-reward challenge with a bold approach required to an island green.
