Nestled in the upscale suburb of Nyali, north of the creek separating Mombasa Island from the North Coast, Nyali Golf & Country Club offers a premier 18-hole golf experience on a 150-acre site once dedicated to sisal production.
Established as a 9-hole course in 1958 to serve local residents, it was expanded to a full 18-hole layout in 1980 after becoming a members’ club. The course features Polana grass from Mozambique, which continues to be used today, along with greens nurtured in the club’s nursery.
Thanks to a state-of-the-art irrigation system, the course remains lush even during dry spells. The gently rolling fairways are bordered by flowering trees like the Madagascan Flame Tree, adding to the course’s scenic charm. Coastal winds from the east occasionally bring links-like conditions, providing an extra layer of challenge.
The course’s occasional vervet monkey sightings, symbolized in the club’s logo, and the overall wildlife presence add a unique touch to the golfing experience at Nyali. Enjoy a round of golf where history, nature, and top-notch conditions come together for a memorable game.
